What the standard is
ISO 21001:2018 — Educational organizations – Management systems for educational organizations – Requirements with guidance for use
ISO 21001:2018 specifies requirements for a management system for educational organisations (EOMS) when an organisation needs to demonstrate its ability to support the acquisition and development of competence through teaching, learning or research.
It also aims to enhance the satisfaction of learners, other beneficiaries and staff through the effective application of the EOMS, including processes for improvement and for assuring conformity to their requirements.
All requirements are generic and applicable to any organisation that uses a curriculum to develop competence, regardless of type, size or delivery method. It can also be applied to educational units within larger organisations whose core business is not education, such as professional training departments. It does not apply to organisations that only produce or manufacture educational products.
