What the standard is
ISO 45001:2018 — Occupational health and safety management systems – Requirements with guidance for use
ISO 45001:2018 specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, with guidance for its use, enabling organisations to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injury and ill health and proactively improving OH&S performance.
It applies to any organisation, regardless of size, type and activity, that wants to establish, implement and maintain a management system to eliminate hazards, minimise OH&S risks, take advantage of improvement opportunities and address nonconformities associated with its activities.
ISO 45001 replaced BS OHSAS 18001 and uses the structure common to other ISO management system standards, making integration with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 easier.
